Jammu Srinagar National Highway Update for 5th January 2026

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 05-01-2026
From 03-01-2026, 1600 hrs. to 04-01-2026, 1600 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single lane traffic at Banihal, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 03 HMVs on NH-44.
Passengers / LMVs operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during day time. Please avoid journey during night hours as the movement of HMVs between Nashri Tunnel and NAVYUG Tunnel may cause inconvenience to the commuters.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs / Passenger / HPVs / Private Cars / HMVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag road is closed for vehicular movement due to fresh snow accumulation.
SSG ROAD
It is snowing right now. Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after receiving the green signal from BRO), traffic movement shall be allowed on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road from Kargil towards Srinagar.
These vehicles, LMVs followed by HMVs (upto 06 tyres) with anti-skid chains, shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFs Convoy, moving from Kargil towards Srinagar, shall plan their movement in such a manner so that civil traffic doesn’t get disturbed.
Mughal Road
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies (GREF), LMVs / Passenger / Private Cars with anti-skid chains shall be allowed from both sides viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
Poonech, Thane Wichlies shall be allowed from Chandimarg (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and vice-versa.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing 1030 hrs to 1430 hrs.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
