JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 09-05-2026
From 07-05-2026, 1600 hrs to 08-05-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Nashri and Kishwtar Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMVs at Minimast and Nachlana, and movement of nomads (crossing Nachlana-Banihal).
Owing to ongoing movement of nomadic herds, traffic on the single-lane stretch from Marog to Kishwtar Pather is likely to slow down. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime.
Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads towards valley, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HPSV/Private Cars/HMVs (Good Carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via traffic control room monitoring. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking, wrong lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of the road from Ramban.
Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/144-58 dated 05-05-2026 and the SDM Kishtwar vide No SDM/KNG/26-27/201-207 dated 01-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL) only, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kishtwar via Daksum-Sinthan Top. These vehicles shall be allowed from Daksum between 1030 hrs to 1530 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut off timing.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road.
In view of the apprehension of avalanches along the Zojila axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1030 hrs. Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chain to gain more grip on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut off timings.
SFs Convoy
Moving from Srinagar towards Kargil shall plan their movement in such a manner so that civil traffic don’t get disturbed.
Mughal Road
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM-PS/25-26/72-82 dated 22-04-2026 and the District Magistrate Poonch vide No. DMP/J/376-91 dated 25-04-2026, subject to fair weather and road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e., from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandanwari (Bafliaz) towards Shopian between 0900 hrs and 1700 hrs, and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1000 hrs and 1700 hrs, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF). No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
