JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 16th July 2026
Traffic Advisory
From 14-07-2026, 1800 hrs to 15-07-2026, 1800 hrs, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, traffic movement on NH-44 and other major roads shall be regulated as follows:
General Advisory
After the cut-off timings, the inbound movement of local commuters within the Jammu and Kashmir region shall be restricted up to 32 km milestone (Lamber) and Qazigund, only after verification of valid photo identity cards, which they must carry during the journey.
Local commuters travelling in private vehicles towards Srinagar are advised to use the old road via Jawahar Tunnel to avoid congestion at Lamber (Battery).
Security Forces, LMVs, passenger vehicles, and private cars are advised to undertake journeys during daylight hours only.
Passenger vehicle operators are advised to prefer journeys on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 during daytime. Night travel should be avoided, as road maintenance work between Ramban and Banihal is ongoing and may cause temporary disruptions.
Goods carrier (HMV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by the Traffic Police Headquarters. Delay beyond the prescribed timings may not be permitted.
Fruit growers/load carriers (HMVs) carrying fresh perishable fruits from Shopian to Mulyet towards Jammu are advised to load and park their vehicles in a staggered manner (every morning before 6:00 am) at designated places between Nayug Tunnel and Levdora so that their movement can be facilitated smoothly.
HMV operators/owners are requested to ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journeys on NH-44.
Traffic Plan & Advisory for 15-07-2026
Jammu → Srinagar (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and road conditions, HMVs, passenger/private cars, and light motor vehicles (LMVs) shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar.
LMVs/passenger vehicles shall move from both sides as per the Traffic Control Unit (TCU) plan.
Heavy vehicles will be allowed as per availability of road space and traffic conditions.
Srinagar → Jammu (NH-44)
Traffic movement from Srinagar towards Jammu shall also be regulated subject to weather and road conditions.
Cut-off Timing for LMVs/Passenger Vehicles
Nagrota (Jammu):
0700 hrs to 1200 hrs
Qazigund:
1100 hrs to 1700 hrs
No vehicle shall be allowed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs)
Subject to road condition and availability of space:
Petrol tankers
LPG tankers
Oil tankers
Empty fuel tankers
Goods carriers carrying essential commodities
shall be allowed movement as per Traffic Police regulation.
Army Convoys
Army convoy movement shall be facilitated as per the approved Traffic Control Unit (TCU) plan, depending upon weather conditions and road status.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, traffic movement shall be allowed on the Mughal Road for LMVs only.
Heavy vehicles are not permitted.
Travelers should check the latest road status before starting their journey.
Advisory
People are advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the latest traffic update from the Traffic Control Units.
