The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) has invited applications from eligible candidates for temporary contractual Assistant Professor posts at the Institute of Biotechnology (IBT), Chatha, Jammu for the Academic Session 2026–27.

Age Limit :
Candidates should:
Not be less than 20 years
Not be more than 55 years
Age will be calculated as on 01 January 2026.
Salary :
Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly remuneration:
₹45,000 per month for candidates possessing a Ph.D.
₹35,000 per month for candidates having a Master’s Degree

M.Sc./M.Tech. in:
Bioinformatics
Computational Biology
Desirable Qualification
Preference will be given to candidates having:
NET / SET / Ph.D. in the relevant subject

Research experience

2. Assistant Professor (Genetic Engineering & Synthetic Biology)

Essential Qualification :
High Second Class (minimum 55% marks) in M.Sc./M.Tech. in any of the following:
Genetic Engineering
Recombinant DNA Technology
Biotechnology
Plant Molecular Biology
Other relevant discipline
Additional Requirement
Applicants from disciplines other than Genetic Engineering/Recombinant DNA Technology should have publications in at least three of the following research areas:
Vector construction followed by genetic transformation and selection
Transfer of genes between organisms from different genera
Heterologous gene expression with protein expression and protein isolation
Gene cloning leading to production of identical organisms/cells
Production and isolation of recombinant vaccines through genetic transformation
Desirable Qualification
NET / SET / Ph.D.
Teaching experience
Research experience
Publications in Genetic Engineering, Synthetic Biology or rDNA Technology.
3. Assistant Professor (Biological Sciences)

Essential Qualification
High Second Class (minimum 55% marks) in M.Sc. in:
Biological Sciences
Botany
Zoology
Desirable Qualification
Preference will be given to candidates having:
NET / SET / Ph.D.
Teaching experience
Research experience
Relevant publications in Biological Sciences, Botany or Zoology.
Terms & Conditions
The recruitment will be governed by the following conditions:
Appointment is purely contractual.
The engagement will not confer any right for regular appointment or absorption in the University.
Candidates wishing to resign must provide one month’s prior notice.
Appointment is initially for the First Semester of Academic Session 2026–27.
Extension for one additional semester may be granted based on:
Satisfactory performance
Availability of funds
Eligible candidates will be informed through Email.
No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the interview.
