JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 1st July 2026
Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)
From 29-06-2026, 1600 hrs to 30-06-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane conditions between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, in addition to the breakdown of 02 HMVs between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, with the first batch of pilgrims starting from Jammu on 02 July 2026, no movement of HMVs shall be allowed from Qazigund towards Jammu and from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after 1900 hrs on 01-07-2026.
However, LMVs shall be allowed to ply up to 2300 hrs from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar and from Qazigund towards Jammu.
Commuters are advised to plan their journey accordingly.
Passenger/LMV Operators Advisory
Passengers and LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime.
Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
NH-44 Traffic Movement
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions:
LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e.:
Jammu towards Srinagar
Srinagar towards Jammu
However, no LMV shall be allowed to move after 1300 hrs from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar and from Qazigund towards Jammu.
Similarly, no HMV shall be allowed to move after 1900 hrs from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar and from Qazigund towards Jammu.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving may cause congestion.
TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road status.
Security Forces (SFs) Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44):
Jammu towards Srinagar
Srinagar towards Jammu
They shall move after confirmation of NHW status from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions:
Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Kishtwar–Sinthan Road:
Kishtwar towards Srinagar
Srinagar towards Kishtwar
These vehicles shall be allowed to move:
From Pooch/Paddar side
From Daksum side
Between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs
HMVs up to six tyres and HPSVs (seating capacity up to 30 passengers only) shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kishtwar.
These vehicles shall move from Daksum between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu/TCU Ramban/TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
SSG Road
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/110/2026/302-4410 dated 14-05-2026:
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions:
LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on SSG Road, i.e.:
Srinagar towards Kargil
Kargil towards Srinagar
Vehicles shall be allowed to move:
From Sonamarg towards Kargil
From Minamarg towards Srinagar
only after receiving clearance from road maintenance agencies, up to 1300 hrs.
HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains to gain more grip on slippery roads.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timings.
SF convoy movement on SSG Road shall be planned in such a manner that civilian traffic is not affected.
Mughal Road
As per orders issued by:

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions:
Vehicle movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to six tyres only) shall be allowed on Mughal Road from both sides:
Poonch towards Shopian
Shopian towards Poonch
Movement timings :
Vehicles from Poonch towards Shopian:
0500 hrs to 1700 hrs
Vehicles from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch:
1000 hrs to 1700 hrs
Movement shall be allowed after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF).
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding cut-off timings.
