TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

From 26-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 27-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic at Digdole, Udhampur as well as single-lane stretch between Mango and Kishtwar Pattan. In addition to the breakdown of 03 vehicles between Digdole and Ramsoo.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a fair spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

Traffic managed on a regulated manner at Qazigund, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane stretch about 30–40 KMs.

Passengers/LVMV operators are advised to prefer journeys on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

In view of the restriction being undertaken by NHAI on Digdole-Khooni Nalla axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of HMVs/Large vehicles is being undertaken on a strict direction in between 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs as the movement of tanker-loaded vehicles shall remain restricted. However, the movement of oil tankers shall be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs up to 0600 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.

Goods carrier (HMV/LWV) operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicles as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 28-08-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/HGVs/Private Cars/HMVs (Good carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Commuters are advised to plan their journey according to the road conditions and confirm the status of NHW from TCU Jammu/Srinagar regarding the road condition.

Army/BSF Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244

As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-27/858-85 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM(KOK)/2025-26/478-85 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHAI/CPWD), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides on the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move as per the prescribed cut-off timings. No vehicle shall be allowed after the prescribed cut-off timings. As per the orders issued by the concerned authorities, TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.

SSG ROAD

As per order issued by the DVCOM Kashmir vide No. DVCOM/Dev/10/2026/4322-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar only, after receiving the green signal from the road maintenance agency, up to 1600 hrs. However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

Motorists are advised to carry sufficient fuel and essential items and to plan their journey accordingly. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SFC convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after receiving clearance from the road maintenance agency concerned, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Mughal Road, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Challanda towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1600 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings. As per the orders issued by the concerned authorities, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
