JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 9th August 2026
From 07-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 08-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane, undulating & uneven surface of the road at Dewal, Udhampur as well as the single-lane stretch between Moorang and Nashriwan Pattan. In addition to the breakdown of 04 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecasted by the MeT with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter Handle and Facebook page.
Traffic managed on regulated manner at Dewal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane about 30-40 Mtrs.
Passengers/L.M.V operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
Goods carrier (HMV) L.M.V operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as the HMVs shall be allowed to ply on alternate days only.
HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 09-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) w.e.f. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs (Load carriers) shall be allowed on alternate days. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.
HMV/Load Carriers
Subject to fair weather, better road conditions and no accumulation of the executing traffic, the HMVs shall be allowed to move from Qazigund towards Jammu. However, NO HMV shall be allowed to move after 1800 hrs. TCU Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing HMVs.
ARMY/BSF & Convoy Movement
Army and other security forces are advised to plan their movement, keeping in view the daily THQ advisory in such a manner so that civil traffic does not get disturbed.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-277578-89 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-304787-88 dated 08-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting signal from Road Maintenance agencies concerned (R&B), LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice-versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parna towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 1500 hrs and 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the DivCom Kashmir vide No. DivCom-Div100/2026/432-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and Sonamarg towards Srinagar only, after receiving a signal from the road maintenance agencies, up to 1330 hrs.
However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry and use anti-skid chains on the tyres as and when required on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.
SFs convoy moving on the SSG road shall plan their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.
Mughal Road (NH-701A)
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs up to Ten tyres only) shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimandir towards Shopian and from Shopian towards Chandimandir between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings.
As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/ADM/PS/26-272/31-31 dated 03-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
