Traffic Advisory

From 07-07-2026, 1800 hrs to 08-07-2026, 1800 hrs, subject to fair weather and better road conditions.

Traffic movement on NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway) shall be regulated as per the traffic plan issued by Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K.

General Advisory

After assessing the traffic situation and road conditions, passenger vehicles will be allowed to travel on NH-44 subject to weather and road conditions.

Travelers are advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the traffic status from Traffic Control Units.

Tourists and local commuters traveling in private vehicles towards Srinagar are advised to use the old NH-44 via Jawahar Tunnel instead of the Nashri–Banihal route.

Vehicles carrying fresh fruits, vegetables, livestock and other perishable goods will be given priority wherever feasible.

Passenger vehicle operators are advised to avoid overloading.

Goods carriers (HMVs/LMVs) carrying essential commodities will be allowed subject to road conditions and traffic regulation.

Drivers must ensure their vehicles are in good mechanical condition before starting their journey.

Traffic Plan for 07-07-2026

Jammu → Srinagar (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) shall be allowed from Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar after assessment by Traffic Police.

 

HMVs carrying essential commodities shall also be allowed as per traffic regulation.

No vehicle shall be allowed without confirmation from Traffic Control Units.

Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra

Traffic movement for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra Convoys shall be regulated as per the schedule issued separately by the authorities.

Cut-Off Timing for LMVs and Passenger Vehicles

Vehicles shall cross designated control points only within the notified timings. No vehicle will be allowed to move after the cut-off timings.

Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs)

HMVs carrying essential commodities shall be allowed subject to road and weather conditions.

Empty HMVs and non-essential goods vehicles will be regulated according to traffic density and highway conditions.

Drivers must follow lane discipline and traffic police instructions.

Security Convoys

Movement of Army, BSF, CRPF and other security force convoys will be regulated according to the day’s traffic plan.

Civilian traffic may be temporarily halted during convoy movement.

Mughal Road

Subject to clearance from the concerned road maintenance agency and weather conditions, LMVs may be allowed on Mughal Road.

Travelers should confirm the status before starting their journey.

Passengers are strongly advised to check the latest traffic status before undertaking any journey on NH-44, Sinthan Road, Mughal Road or other hilly routes due to changing weather and road conditions.
