Prime Minister Narendra Modi today distributed 51,000 appointment letters among the youth at 19th Rozgar Mela and addressed them through video conferencing calling for collective resolve to build a ‘Developed India, Viksit Bharat’, by 2047 and affirming that cross-sectoral investment by the Government is generating millions of new employment opportunities as a direct consequence of this ambition.

“This investment is creating millions of new employment opportunities for the country’s youth,” he said addressing the youth virtually from New Delhi and called upon the newly appointed Government employees to remain mindful of their role in facilitating business and enterprises.

“Ease of Doing Business is a great priority for the country,” he asserted.
Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh coordinated the programme. In Jammu, Northern Railways DRM Vivek Kumar handed over appointment letters to 220 youth. “The true dividend of national progress reaches its full potential only when villages, small towns, and remote regions are integrated into the development fabric. When villages and remote areas connect with development, the benefit of the country’s progress reaches more people,” Modi said in his address.

Welcoming the newest entrants into Government service, he underscored their imminent contribution to India’s development across sectors including railways, banking, defence, health, and education.

“In the years to come, all of you will play a crucial role in realizing the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he asserted.
Declaring that the opportunities available to India’s youth today, across manufacturing, technology, startups, digital services, railways, defence, and space, are unprecedented in the country’s history, the Prime Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that the maximum number of young people can seize these opportunities and fully showcase their talent.

“The opportunities India’s youth have today to fulfill their dreams were never there before,” he asserted.

Modi noted that India has become the world’s third largest startup ecosystem, with over 2.3 lakh recognized startups, and that this transformation is no longer confined to metropolitan centres.

“This change is not limited to just big cities,” he observed.

Noting with pride that youth from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are entering the world of startups and innovation in large numbers, and that this movement has become an important component of the national economy, the Prime Minister highlighted the growing and decisive role of India’s women in this entrepreneurial surge.

Rrecognizing the financial empowerment of crores of women through the Mudra Yojana and the self-reliance enabled by schemes like PM SVANidhi, Modi observed, “Today, more women than ever before in villages and small towns are launching new ventures entirely on their own.”

The Prime Minister conveyed the palpable excitement that leaders of global corporations, representing dozens of nations, had expressed about India’s youth and its technological advancement.

Noting that each new partnership simultaneously widens global connectivity for Indian startups, researchers, and young professionals, the Prime Minister reflected on a world that today respects nations which innovate, build, and deliver at scale.

He expressed pride that India is advancing on all three fronts. “The greatest force behind this transformation is India’s youth, all of you,” he said

In his address, Union Minister of State in the PMO Dr Jitendra Singh said India’s rapidly expanding startup ecosystem is creating large-scale employment opportunities and transforming the aspirations of the country’s youth beyond conventional Government jobs.
He said the number of recognized startups in the country has risen to 2,26,719, generating nearly 23 to 24 lakh jobs, while India today stands as the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem and sixth globally in patent filings.

“The changing employment landscape reflects the confidence of young Indians in the country’s innovation-driven growth model. More than 55 per cent of patents filed from India belong to resident Indians who studied, researched and developed their innovations within the country itself, reflecting the emergence of a strong domestic scientific and entrepreneurial ecosystem,” Dr Jitendra Singh said.

He said recruitment in Government services has become faster, more transparent and more technology-driven during the last few years and the time taken in recruitment examinations conducted by the Staff Selection Commission has reduced substantially from an average of nearly 15 months earlier to around eight months now.

“Recruitment examinations are also being conducted in 13 regional languages in addition to Hindi and English, widening opportunities for candidates from different parts of the country,” he added.

The Minister said several reforms introduced in the recruitment system have enhanced the confidence of candidates in the fairness of the selection process. He referred to the abolition of interviews for certain categories of government jobs, which removed scope for bias and discrimination in recruitment. He also said candidates are now being provided electronic dossiers in place of physical documentation, while the SSC portal allows applicants to choose examination centres online and access answer keys immediately after examinations.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said several state governments including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Assam, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura have also adopted the Rozgar Mela model for state-level recruitments. Through such initiatives, more than six lakh appointments have already been made at the state level.

The Minister said the vision of Viksit Bharat is shaping every major policy initiative of the government, and the youth joining public service today would play a defining role in building India by 2047, when the country completes 100 years of Independence.
Meanwhile, a Rozgar Mela was organised at the Convention Centre, Jammu, on Friday under the Government of India’s nationwide employment generation campaign.

In the Mela, 229 selected candidates received appointment letters for various Government services. Divisional Railway Manager, Jammu, Vivek Kumar attended the programme as the chief guest, while Chairman, Railway Recruitment Board Jammu, Sanjay Tyagi was also present.

Addressing the gathering, Kumar said that the youth of Jammu and Kashmir possess immense talent and potential, and programmes like Rozgar Mela are helping channel their energy towards constructive nation-building.”Indian Railways remains committed to providing world-class opportunities to the youth of this region and contributing towards public welfare and inclusive growth,” he said.
