Security Tightened in Ramban Ahead of Diwali, Police Intensify Checks

Jammu, Nov 7: Police on Friday intensified security and preventive measures across the district ahead of Diwali to ensure peaceful celebrations and maintain law and order in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, officials said.

As part of the enhanced security arrangements, police, in coordination with the Special Operations Group (SOG), conducted extensive foot patrolling in market areas, public places and other sensitive locations, they said.

Security personnel also sanitised vulnerable areas while checking firecracker sale points to ensure compliance with prescribed safety norms, they added.

Additionally, SOG Ramban established Mobile Vehicle Check Posts (MVCPs) at strategic locations, while intensive vehicle checking and challaning of traffic violators were carried out to strengthen surveillance and ensure road safety, they said.

Police said the proactive measures were aimed at strengthening the security grid, preventing any untoward incident and ensuring a safe and peaceful festive environment for the public.

Additionally, the police appealed to the public to celebrate Diwali responsibly, adhere to safety guidelines, cooperate with security personnel and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.–(PTI)
