TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 23-04-2026
From 21-04-2026, 1600 hrs to 22-04-2026, 1600 hrs, there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to a single-lane traffic block between Marog and Kishtwari Nallah, in addition to the breakdown of 03 HMVs and movement of 11 nomadic herds.
Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, movement of nomads towards the valley, and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

NH-44 (NHW)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, passenger vehicles, HPVs/private cars and HMVs (goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Tunnel towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline; overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion.
Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road conditions.
SFs Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road condition, security forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Tunnel towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar – Sinthan – Anantnag NH-244
As per order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/CO26-27/62-71 dated 13-04-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/KNG/2025-26/98-101 dated 14-04-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies (NHIDCL), only LMVs and passenger/private cars shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kishtwar via Daksum–Sinthan Top.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Daksum between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about cut-off timing.
SSG ROAD
Subject to fair weather and good road condition (after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies), LMVs followed by HMVs (upto six tyres only) shall be allowed to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri road.
In view of the apprehension of avalanches along the Zoji axis, these vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil only after receiving green signal from the road maintenance agencies and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1030 hrs.
Motorists are advised to carry adequate fuel and stick to lane movement on the slippery road.
TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about cut-off timing.
SFs Convoy, moving from Srinagar towards Kargil, shall plan their movement in such a manner so that Civil Traffic does not get disturbed.
Mughal Road
As per order issued by the District Magistrate Shopian DMS/ADM-PS/25-26/4772-4781 dated 26-02-2026 and the District Magistrate Poonch vide No. DMP/J/13043-52 dated 26-02-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting green signal from Road Maintenance Agencies (GREF), only LMVs, passenger/private cars shall be allowed from both sides via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa via Poonch.
These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 1100 hrs to 1500 hrs.
No vehicle shall be allowed after cut-off timing.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about cut-off timing.
