Vacancy Details :

A total of 190 vacancies have been announced for the post of Civilian Switch Board Operator (CSBO) Grade-II, Group ‘C’. These are distributed across UR, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories as vertical reservation. Additionally, 12 posts are horizontally reserved for PwBD candidates and 20 posts are horizontally reserved for Ex-Servicemen (ESM) as per DoPT OM No. 36035/02/2017/Estt (Res) dated 15 Jan 2018.

Eligibility Criteria :

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of application (31-05-2026). Only citizens of India are eligible to apply. Proficiency in handling Private Board Exchange (PBX) Board with a minimum experience of 6 months is a crucial and mandatory criterion – no application will be accepted without a valid Experience Certificate in handling PBX Board. The post is subject to All India Service Liability including Field Service.

Age Limit :

Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as on the last date of receipt of application (31-05-2026). Age relaxations are available for reserved categories and special groups as specified below. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the last date of receipt of application. No extra weightage will be given for additional/extra/higher qualifications for recruitment

Selection Process :

The selection process for Indian Army CSBO Grade-II Recruitment 2026 consists of 3 stages – Written Test (100 marks, merit-based), Practical Test (qualifying only), and Interview (qualifying only), followed by a Medical Test for shortlisted candidates. Selection will be made strictly on the basis of merit in the Written Test, subject to the candidate qualifying in the Practical Test and Interview. To reduce the number of candidates for the Written Examination, screening of applications may be carried out based on percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation/10th Board examination.

The question paper will be bilingual (English and Hindi). However, questions of General English subject will be in English only. No extra weightage will be given for additional/extra/higher qualifications

Stage 2 – Practical Test and Interview (Qualifying Only)

Interview Conducted along with Practical Test for qualifying purpose only – marks not counted for final merit

Stage 3 – Medical Test

Medical Test Only shortlisted candidates based on performance in Written Test, Practical Test, and Interview will be directed to undergo Medical Test as per extant Government Orders

Terms of Engagement

Probation Period 2 years probation followed by permanent absorption subject to satisfactory performance
Pension New entrants joining on or after 01 Jan 2004 are governed by the National Pension System
Retention Beyond 55 Years / 30 Years of Service Subject to screening committee approval; retirement from service on attaining age of 60 years if retained
Disqualification Candidate will be disqualified if found to have contracted a marriage while having a living spouse, or entered into another marriage

Exam Syllabus

The Written Test consists of 4 parts – General Intelligence & Numerical Aptitude, General Awareness, General English, and Logic & Reasoning – each carrying 25 marks (total 100 marks), all Objective Multiple Choice Type. The question paper is bilingual (English and Hindi) except the General English section which is in English only. After the Written Test, shortlisted candidates undergo a Practical Test and Interview (both qualifying in nature) to assess proficiency in handling exchange/PBX Board operations.

Falsification of documents at any stage will lead to cancellation of candidature.

Attempts to influence the selection process or use of unfair means (forgery, impersonation, false information) may lead to termination of candidature or legal action.

The Appointing Authority has the right to cancel/postpone/suspend/terminate/modify the notification without prior notice at any stage.

Recruitment Board’s decision will be final in all matters.
