The Institute of Biotechnology, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has invited applications from eligible candidates for the temporary position of Project Associate-I/Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India funded research project.

The recruitment is purely temporary and will be governed by the terms and conditions mentioned in the advertisement

Project Title:

“Mainstreaming sesame germplasm for productivity enhancement and sustainable through genomics assisted core development and trait discovery.”

Sub-Project 2:
Genotyping of Sesame Germplasm Following High Throughput Genomics

The project will be carried out at the Institute of Biotechnology, SKUAST-Jammu.

Vacancy Details

Name of Position : Project Associate-I / Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Number of Vacancies : 01 Post

Monthly Fellowship

The selected candidate will receive fellowship as per DBT, Government of India guidelines.

 

For NET/GATE Qualified Candidates :

₹37,000 per month

HRA: 10%

 

For Non-NET/Non-GATE Candidates

₹30,000 per month

HRA: 10%

Note :

Relevant experience in the concerned field will be considered. Applicants should support their experience through publications, research work, or experience certificates.

 

Essential Educational Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

M.Sc. in Bioinformatics, or

M.Sc. in Biotechnology, or

M.Sc. in Molecular Biology, or

Any other relevant Life Science discipline

 

Desirable Qualification :

Preference will be given to candidates having:

NET qualification in the relevant subject

NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data analysis experience

 

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following research activities:

Genome data analysis using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and submission of genomic data.

Conducting Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) for various traits.

Performing Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) and gene discovery studies for important traits.

Carrying out transcriptome experiments and analysing transcriptome data.

Performing any other research assignments related to the project as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

 

Terms and Conditions

The appointment will be subject to the following conditions:

The position is purely temporary and contractual.

The appointment is co-terminus with the research project.

Project duration: Up to 28 February 2027.

The selected candidate cannot claim regular appointment in the University on the basis of this engagement.

Candidates wishing to leave the project before completion must provide one month’s prior notice.

Appointment will initially be made for one year only.

Extension of the appointment (annually) will depend upon satisfactory performance and availability of the project.

Only eligible candidates will be informed separately regarding the date, time and venue of the interview.

No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
