The Director of Health Services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad today verbally narrated an advisory about the Covid surge in parts of the country and in the union territory and said that the health  dept is fully ready to fight against the virus and appealed to the local people to adhere to Covid protocols once again without being panicked.

Recently, the local authorities  has ramped up Covid testing amid reports of virus resurgence in different parts of the country.

Speaking to media, Dr Mushtaq said, “Covid’s status is that it is again surging. I will say that H1N1 and H3N2 influenza viruses including Corona have almost similar symptoms”.

“We have directions from the central govt to conduct mock drills to check our preparedness to fight against these viruses, but people have no need to panic”, he said.

“But I request people to take preventive measures avoid going to crowds, wear masks and maintain hand hygiene and take precautions if you need to go in crowd”, he added.

“These days influenza cases are rising and there are almost same precautions for all the viruses like distance maintaining, face masks”, he claimed.

“There is no need to worry as govt was/is prepared with medicines, doctors. There are some areas where viral viruses are surging and people have to be alert”, he advised.

Responding to the query of increase in Heart attacks in J&K, Director, said,” It can have multiple reasons like it can be congenital defects or post-covid effects”.

“Which are mostly seen found in elderly but not in children as this was confined only to aged populations, but now sudden cardiac arrests have hiked in younger population here”, he explained.

“It has multiple causes like if someone believes that their post-covid period has not passed then one has to take precautions”, he said.

“It’s an advisory because respiratory track infection is increasing and it is better if we begin taking preventive measures from today”, he added.
